career at the intersection of international finance and public affairs. Currently serving as an Adjunct Professor of International and Public Affairs, he brings decades of

research

experience on the Chinese economy, international finance, and currency risk management. With a robust

academic foundation—holding a bachelor’s degree with

honors from Harvard University and an M.A., M.Phil., and PhD in Economics from Columbia University—Professor Schramm has significantly influenced both

teaching and

research in his field. During his tenure at Columbia Business School, where he taught a wide range of courses from econometrics and forecasting to international financial management and corporate finance, he earned prestigious accolades such as the Columbia University SIPA

Teaching Award and the Chazen Institute Award for international business case writing. His practical

experience is equally impressive: as an Economist at the IMF, he contributed to debt workouts and the reform of Uganda’s foreign exchange system, and he has provided consultancy for the World Bank. Professor Schramm’s international engagement extends to his roles at the International Business School of Suzhou, where he is an Associate Faculty member and directs both the PhD and MSc Economics programs, as well as his involvement in the

Research Steering Committee at XJTLU and as Finance Editor for the International Journal of Emerging Markets. Notably, he has led innovative

educational initiatives, including launching the inaugural corporate valuation course at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing and spearheading MBA and EMBA courses in China. Additionally, he founded China Macro Finance in New York City and has authored a textbook offering a US perspective on the Chinese macroeconomy and financial system. Fluent in Chinese and widely recognized for his

expertise, Professor Schramm continues to shape discourse in international financial management and policy.
