Cultural narratives & organisational insights
In Tariq H. Malik's writing for the London Business Review, he explores the complexity and importance of narratives in shaping cultural dimensions such as power distance, individualism, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance and long-term orientation. The empirical analysis of these cultural variables reflects diverse methods used to examine societal norms and their impacts on business practices across countries.
A multifaceted approach to scholarship
Beyond his research on cultural narratives, Professor Malik's creative endeavours and entrepreneurial journey add a rich, multifaceted dimension to his work. He has authored and published poems and a book, enriching his narrative approach with literary expression. His creativity extends into visual arts, where he has visually depicted his stories, and he has experimented with cartoons and storytelling.
Three phases
Phase 1 — Foundational (late 1990s – early 2000s). Tariq H. Malik founded Melliorium Institute International (MII), embedding within it the values of mellifluous character, organic transformation and premium in value. Reflecting his multifaceted nature, the institute integrated a biotechnology firm, a consulting organisation and a dedicated publication unit.
Phase 2 — Exploratory (mid-2000s – 2010s). Professor Malik's journey became global and exploratory, characterised by intellectual and geographical mobility. He travelled extensively, relocating from New York to London, then moving to Singapore and the Middle East, progressively widening the horizons of his institutional vision.
Phase 3 — Institutional consolidation and the ICOIS era (2010s – present). Building upon his earlier ventures, Professor Malik founded ICOIS, incorporating the matured values and global perspective accumulated over two decades.
