Biography

Klaus Nielsen is Professor of Institutional Economics in the Department of Management at Birkbeck, University of London, and a member of the Birkbeck Sport Business Centre.

His research covers varieties of capitalism, innovation, social capital, elite sport and the economics of sport. He teaches research methods, innovation, business in the European Union, and the economics of sport.

He co-authored When Sport Meets Business: Capabilities, Challenges, Critiques (2017) and Professional Team Sports and the Soft Budget Constraint (2022), and was instrumental in establishing the Danish elite sport organisation Team Danmark.
