Biography

Ishtiaq Pasha Mahmood is Professor at NUS Business School, National University of Singapore, where he works with multinational firms and local enterprises on emerging-market strategy.

His research sits at the interface of innovation and strategy in emerging markets, with a focus on frugal innovation, fintech and sustainable business models. It has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Management Science, Organization Science, Research Policy and the Strategic Management Journal.

He holds a BA in Economics from Oberlin College and a PhD from Harvard University, and worked as a management consultant at Gemini in Chicago before entering academia. He directs the "Business Strategies for Asia" executive programme, won the Aspen Institute award in 2014 for advancing sustainable business models in research and teaching, and serves on the World Economic Forum's international panel of experts as co-curator of the ASEAN Transformation Map.
