Biography

Ingyu Oh is Professor of Hallyu Studies at Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata, Japan, working across international business, organisational studies and the cultural industries.

His research interests are Hallyu — the Korean Wave — together with gender, ethnicity and globalisation. He has published over seventeen books and eighty refereed articles, and has secured more than two million dollars in research funding for work on Korea's chaebol economy and the societal impact of Hallyu.

He is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Hallyu, the Brill-affiliated journal, a past President of the World Association for Hallyu Studies and former Editor of Culture and Empathy. Before moving to Japan in 2018 he taught at Korea University, Bristol Business School, Middle East Technical University, UC Berkeley, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, the University of Waikato and the University of Oregon.
